Mobil Gargoyle Arctic SHC 226 oil is a superior performance, fully synthetic lubricant specifically designed for use in refrigeration compressors and heat pumps. It is formulated from wax-free, synthesized hydrocarbon polyalphaolefin (PAO) base stocks, which have extraordinary resistance to thermal/oxidative degradation. With its naturally high, shear-stable viscosity index and low-temperature fluidity, it is capable of operating in severe service conditions that are beyond the capabilities of many conventional mineral oils. The solubility and miscibility of Mobil Gargoyle Arctic SHC 226 with commonly used refrigerants are low, which results in higher film thickness in the presence of refrigerants under pressure. This can help reduce seal leakage. The stability and low-volatility characteristics of Mobil Gargoyle Arctic SHC 226 reduce "light-end stripping," which can occur with conventional mineral oils.
